A global spiritual movement merging ancient wisdom with modern beliefs to foster a world that works for all.
Centers for Spiritual Living (CSL) represents a global community committed to spiritual growth and personal transformation. Founded by Ernest Holmes in 1926, following the publication of his seminal work, “The Science of Mind,” CSL promotes the teachings of Religious Science, part of the larger New Thought movement. This philosophy emphasizes the power of thought and belief to shape reality, advocating a positive, spiritually fulfilling approach to life.
CSL’s journey began with Holmes’s vision in Los Angeles, California, where he established the Institute of Religious Science and Philosophy to disseminate his teachings. This institution evolved into the Church of Religious Science, later experiencing a division that resulted in two branches: the United Church of Religious Science and Religious Science International. These branches reunited in 2011 under the banner of Centers for Spiritual Living, marking a significant moment in the organization’s history.
With over 400 spiritual communities across 30 countries, CSL’s mission extends beyond individual spiritual development to include a global vision of peace, harmony, and understanding. Its teachings draw from a rich tapestry of spiritual traditions, welcoming individuals from all walks of life and religious backgrounds. The organization’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity is evident in its broad array of services catering to families, singles, children, adults, and seniors.
CSL’s headquarters, located in Golden, Colorado, serves as the hub for its extensive network of spiritual communities, teaching chapters, study groups, and other ministries. The organization offers various programs and activities designed to support spiritual growth and community engagement, such as classes, workshops, prayer, and meditation sessions. Additionally, CSL’s leadership structure includes councils and committees focused on governance, spiritual leadership, and socially motivated engagement, highlighting its comprehensive approach to spiritual and community development.
The Centers for Spiritual Living continues to thrive by fostering environments where individuals can explore their spirituality and contribute to a world that embraces diversity, unity, and collective well-being.
